We drove into the northernmost (Island in the Sky) entrance to Canyonlands twice. The road to this entrance is next to the Archview Resort. Lots of trails, both short and long, are accessible right off the paved roads in all the parks
The skies were still partly coudy when we took our first short hike, to Mesa Arch, in Canyonlands. They say it's best at sunrise, but midday showed us plenty of color and interesting shadows.
In Arches National Park, we visited the Wolfe Ranch,
hiked the Delicate Arch trail, (Yes, this ledge above IS the trail; the arch is below.),
and the Landsape Arch trail.
